Happy days

I have been in Japan almost for a week now. What have I been doing? I met some friends from college, watched more than 10 movies, and went shopping to stationary stores.

Since Michi is such a geek (he is now looking into a very complicated and fascinated historical figure called "Yoshiko Kawashima," who was a cousin of Pu-Yi (the last emperor of Manchuria) and collaborated with the Japanese sometimes as a spy, sometimes as a commander etc), so I also feel very comfortable about reading a little geeky books like "American military capabilities" or "Ninja short stories".

By the way, did you hear Bush's State of the Union yesterday? I was listening to it while still in bed. Is it only me who just cannot help but laugh at his words like "evil" and "justice"? Oh this is a bad sign but I am so used to such narrative and have no strong feeling to write a serious comment against it.

Here is the list of the movies we watched so far:

模倣犯(a mystery movie. The cinematography was fine, but the story sucks unfortunately)

戦場に咲く花 (not bad but lacks in depth compared to 鬼が来た. Hope Michi will write a review on it.)

Agatha Christie's Poirot (2 episodes) (you know, he is smart...)

Full Metal Jacket (This was goood! I love the sarcasm about war and violence)

新仁義なき戦い (I had to interpret the Osaka dialect spoken in the movie for Michi. Very cool)

Scooby Doo (hmm, no comment)

マルサの女2:Tax Woman 2

The Last Emperor (we watched this to see 川島芳子's role in the movie. Impressive as usual)

Snatch (hehehehe)

世にも奇妙な物語ディレクターズカット(雪山/携帯忠臣蔵)(Spooky stories. Very well filmed. Better than expected)
