Tension #1 : China vs Taiwan
--- China had a military drill (with cooperation of the French). I have been asking my Taiwanese friends whether they think China will attack any part of Taiwan if Chen Shui-bian win the election. They all say "No way!" They are already too used to the Chinese threat. Maybe my sample-selection is not good enough.
Tension #2 : DPP vs KMT
--- Of course. I saw an interesting competition, though. DPP analogy: Chen Shui-bian, facing the Chinese threat, and J.F. Kennedy, facing the Cuban Crisis. KMT analogy: Chen Shui-bian, using populism, and Hitler, using fascism.
Tension #3 : the US and France
--- The US sent the Kitty Hawk to Hong Kong, while France cooperated with China and carried out the military drill. Does this make a tension?
