China Trip 3

We returned to Beijing by plane since there was no train ticket left. In Beijing, we had very productive sightseeing overall. We saw lots of magnificent, beautiful, and interesting architectures, gardens, parks, and museums, but I won't introduce them here since you can read more details in guidebooks basically.

China Under Construction
Since Michi lived in Beijing for one year before, he played a role of a tour guide for me during this trip, but his information was 5 years old so we sometimes found a whole section had been completely wiped out. For example, the area between Qinghua University and Beijing University, where he used to hang out, had completely changed into two big streets and a park. The Xin-Jjang street with hundreds of Xin-jiang restaurants near Renmin University was also gone. I remember that my roommate in NY, Ling (an architect) said "Architects who want to earn money must go to no other place but China." I really understand it now. My simple impression of new Chinese buildings is "Huuuuuge!"
