My parents were in town over the last few days so I was kind of out of my ordinary daily schedule.
Today one teacher at ICLP showed us (Japanese students) the Japanese TV commercials for Fanta. They are very funny and cute; a series of short clips of crazy junior-high teachers in class and realistic responses by students.
You can download the whole series (with Chinese subtitles) here. The Taiwanese teacher that showed it to us was fascinated especially by the one of 将軍先生, who tells off a student who tries to answer the question he gave. The reason seems because "it's portraying the Japanese traditional custom that girls should be obedient" since the student happens to be female. But when I saw it, I did not think the concept is anything to do with the male-female status, but with the insane class difference and irrationality of that teacher. Anyways, it is funny that it has a different meaning to foreigners' eyes.
By the way, I have disallowed comments on this blog. Otherwise it receives literally thousands of porn ads everyday, and I am sick of deleting this insane amount of computer spam comments.
