Cambodia Trip 4
We visited some local markets just to see people's life in Cambodia. According to our drivers, construction workers get $1 per day, taxi drivers get $3. Kol could earn $200 per month when he was digging up land mines.
Yukiko and I also visited Toul Sleng Museum, a concentration camp where the Pol Pot investigated and tortured intellectuals before sending them to killing fields. This is a picture showing how they tortured people there.
That concentration camp was a high-school where Pol Pot taught as a teacher before. We also visited famous killing fields, where skulls, bones, and teeth are still buried and gradually coming out. We asked one guide to give us explanation. He said Pol-Pot was good at the beginning, but got paranoid about people's intention to overthrow his regime, and went crazy, The result is a huge massacre, killing more people than Nazis killed Jews, and one third of the national population disappeared.
We did a lot of shopping in the excuse of "contributing to the local economy!"
