One of my responsibilities at work is to translate Chinese documents and speeches into English. Yes, it is funny that a Japanese girl does that job but do not worry, I usually have an American correct my drafts. I have already been doing translation for a couple of months, so I am already very familiar with the names and titles of people. However, it is still very hard since Chinese expressions are sometimes very different from English ones. Basically, speeches in Chinese include a lot of BS and exaggerations. I often see adjectives like "evil" and "supreme," and if I put these words in the English translation, it looks very weird. Another problem is that Chinese sentences often omit subjects, and the subject of the verbs changes many times in one sentence. (Same in Japanese.) You do not necessarily have to put conjunctions like "but" "because" "although" between sentences in Chinese, so it is difficult to express the original vague connection between sentences in English.
