We had a meeting to review the Conference we had last week. We had various small problems, but the staff is generally satisfied with the results. My boss expressed some complaints on miscellaneous things, however. Some of his comments are based on his theory, "Politics needs to be Artistic." The reception office at the hotel was for sure chaotic and not decorative at all since all the staff was working there too. "We should have set up a different room for reception. It should have flowers, paintings, and some artsy stuff. 政治是很有藝術的." He also said "we should have a performance during the welcome party. 政治是很有藝術的." Combined with what I learned about politics over the last one month, politics really needs people, time and money not necessarily in a dirty sense.
I could observe some conflicts within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between the blue and the green. The green officials were obviously very stingy and mean to this organization, while some blue officials took holidays to offer some assistance (like translation) for the conference. Yeah, I am sure the opposite thing happened during the KMT rule of over 50 years.
