Lantern Festival

My cousin Rena had been visiting me over the last few days. It was a great timing for her since there was a big event of Lantern Festival. On the 23rd, we went to Jiu-fen during day, and then went to see "flying lanterns" at Ping-xi (Shi-fen) in the evening. Fortunately it stopped raining and got warm that day. Jiu-fen is a famous touristee spot, and I have been there before (see pics at the Places page). But it was my first time to go to Shi-fen. It is a very very very cute local station. People walk on the railroad, and there are many small shops and street vendors (almost like a night market) alongside the railroad. The small down-town area around the station is surrounded by a big jungle, wild river and waterfalls. I would love to come back to Shi-fen for camping or hiking!!!

The lanterns were BEAUTIFUL!! You can also buy one (US$3) for yourself, write your wishes on it, light a fire, and release it to the sky! I will upload some pics soon.
